Learn to Row
Maidenhead Rowing Club invites you to try your hand at rowing

We know how expensive and daunting it can be when you are starting out as a rower or joining a club, so we have compiled a list of less expensive, non-club branded items of clothing and equipment that you might want to buy once you have spoken with your coach and crew.

There is also a full list of Maidenhead Rowing Club branded kit available through the website here.

Other than the club Unisuit, all other items are non-essential.

Essential Description Supplier
Unisuit Maidenhead Rowing Club design all-in-one suit required for racing/training. Visit the Maidenhead Rowing Club website here to see supplier listing and club design.
Rigger Jigger The most important item a rower/sculler can possess! A rigger jigger is a double-ended spanner for tightening and loosening bolts used to attach the riggers to the boat. Size 10mm at one end and 13mm at the other.

These can be purchased online from various places such as:-

Green Junior Hoodie 100% cotton, green hoodie with Maidenhead RC logo on the front and personalised with Junior’s name on the back. Worn for land-training, to events etc. These cannot be worn in the boat due to the possibility of thumbs catching in the fabric/pockets.

School Days, Bath Road, Maidenhead (all sizes) and priced at around £20. http://www.schooldaysdirect.co.uk/

Goyals of Maidenhead (all sizes) and priced at around £20. http://www.goyalmaidenhead.co.uk/

Black soft shell Jacket Black soft shell jacket with MRC logo front left and Junior’s initials front right. MRC across the back.

Black or white long-sleeved technical top or skin/leggings Tight fitting technical tops/leggings to be worn underneath unisuits for cold weather training.

Please do not feel obliged to buy ‘official’ club versions of these.

There are inexpensive plain white or black leggings/technical tops available from e.g Sports Direct and Decathlon that are fine to wear with club Unisuits when racing.

NB/These need to be technical tops rather than thermals because they wick sweat away from the body during exercise. The Sports Direct Sondico Long-sleeved Core Base Layer is a good example of what is needed.

Seat Pads A small rubber seat that can be attached to the rowing seat for comfort.

Rock the Boat (approx. £12)
