Maidenhead rowing club's Senior Men again prequalified for this years Wyfold Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta: members of the squad have qualified and rowed in the Wyfold each year they have entered, 2013, 2014 and 2016.

The crew started the year entering fours Head of the River Race, as well as Henley 4's & 8's head where they finished with the fastest provisional time.

Ahead of Henley the squad competed at Wallingford Regatta, Marlow international Regatta and the Metropolitan Regatta, placing 2nd on Sunday in Tier 3 coxless fours.

HenleyRR Men2This year the Wyfold Challenge Cup saw 60 club entries, including international crews from Germany, Australia and the United States of America. Only 32 qualified to race. Maidenhead enjoyed early success beating Radely Mariners on Wednesday with a verdict of 2 lengths.

Thursday's heat saw stiff competition against Thames Rowing Club.

Initially Maidenhead enjoyed an early lead with a quick time to the barrier but ultimately where taken  by Thames who went on to compete at the Semi-finals on Saturday, narrowly losing against this years winner, Sport Imperial.
