This year's winter training started with a bang, following the participation of 3 Senior Women's (SW) quads taking part in an epic 100km row from Maidenhead to Pangbourne and back again! The 100km challenge was not only physically difficult in places but also presented a psychological struggle as opportunities to leave the boat were few and crews became increasingly tired. However, all 3 crews made it back- relatively unscathed but with very sore bottoms!


With the excitement of the 100km challenge now over the SW have started to focus on weekly training building up towards Pairs Head (October) and Fours Head (November) with Women's 8s head in March 2015.


Winter training consists of ergos twice weekly (Mon and Weds 6:30pm) concentrating on strength and endurance plus a weekly weights session (Tuesday 6:45pm) and a kickboxing session on a Thursday evening (7pm). We are lucky to have the use of the facilities at Claire's Court for the weights and kickboxing sessions, whilst the ergo sessions take place at the club house. The indoor winter training is supplemented at the weekend by water sessions at 7:30 am on both Saturday and Sunday. The weekend sessions are likely to be double sessions, with a longer endurance session first followed by a shorter technical session. Fear not though- you get to have a cup of tea and a quick bite to eat in between sessions!


The spring/summer season sees us leaving behind the long, endurance based head races and we start focusing more on sprint training with much more time on the water. Again, we meet Monday to Thursday followed by both days at the weekend. Many crews will have been training in their Henley Women's Regatta boats all winter in order to complete against top class competition at the end of June.


For those of you still wanting a bit of competition but who are not so keen on training for Henley, there are a variety of head races and regattas that you can enter or you may just want to focus on competing with yourself and making your own ergo times better.


We are very lucky to be guided by our excellent Captain, Amaia and we have secured weekend coaching from some very experienced (and successful) existing members.
