* Learn to Row Overview: We will teach you the basics of sculling (an oar in each hand) to a capable level in stable boats. Depending on river conditions you will also be able to experience a variety of boats (8x+/4x+/2x/1x).

* Criteria: Typically, the intake is J13 (Year 7 at school) boys and girls. We also try to accommodate older ones if there are gaps in the relevant squad and if we have space. Where there is not enough space in a squad we will apply the following factors:

+ points where a child is a sibling or Offspring of an existing Member
- points where a child attends (or will attend) a rowing school
Distance to Club may also apply - Those nearest will be selected first

* How to Apply:  Please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. The courses are very popular and are restricted in terms of numbers. We hold an assessment day in the spring to help select the strongest athletes, and will contact those on the waiting list to take part . We will contact those on the waiting list first when new dates are announced.

* Post Learn to Row: After completing the learn to row, the juniors can then decide whether to join the beginner's squad which starts in September.

We have also previously run summer camps over the holidays which have been very popular.

* When do the courses run: Consists of 6 x 2-hour sessions, at the weekend. During the Spring/ early Summer so that you get the chance to improve your technique before the more challenging water and weather conditions of the autumn/winter.

* Safety: Please note that rowing is a physical sport and there will be some lifting and carrying of boats at each session. You must be able to swim at least 50 metres in light clothing to undertake these courses. We carry out a capsize drill and Swim test before the course starts.
