Another frustrating week of (mostly) Red Boards river; but on a positive note, this week has seen more progress on the gym project, the expanded erg room is really paying dividends, and we had some crews racing on the Tideway this weekend.

Fours Head – 3 crews braved the elements yesterday (and managed to get their entries in early for a reduced field of entries due to works at Fulham Football ground). Very well done to three juniors crews who represented the club at this prestigious event. The girls quad (Amelia, Alexandra, Jasmine and Izzy) took an impressive 4th place in WJ 4x Band1, whilst the Boys B quad (Olly, Jake, Ethan and Ed) were 8th out of 28 crews in J4x Band 2. The Boys A quad unfortunately snapped a blade 600m before the finish line and couldn't complete the race, otherwise their race went very well.

Vet’s Fours Head – 5 crews enjoyed near perfect tideway conditions today, with the race being run the ‘wrong way’ on the flood tide from the Mile Post to Chiswick Staithe. Solid performances from Vetmen and Masters Women crews: WC4x 3rd of 12, WB4x 4th of 6, E4x 6th of 17, D4- 6th of 8, F4+ 4th of 5. The excellent new bar facilities were tested (again) once boats were re-rigged, cleaned, and racked.

Gym project – sliding doors (to separate the function room from the bar area when needed) were fitted last week - the last of the major infrastructure elements, together with installation of the existing 2 weight cages. This week will see further decorating, completion of the bar door, and delivery of the coffee machine. The gym equipment is due next week, along with bar shelves, carpets in the corridors and lino in the bar. Phew..

Functions – Now that we are up and running with the function room once again, please avoid using the weight room when functions are being held. We hope to manage session/dates to minimise clashes, but please remember that hosting functions is a good source of revenue for the Club, and helps position us in the community. The next midweek evening event is Wednesday 4th December from 1830. Layla will advise of any other events to be aware of.

Clares Court sponsored ergos – This Friday (29th November) 1300 – 1830 in the function room (ergos will be placed on mats to protect the floor), with parents in attendance.

Clares Court sports hall – out of action this week (25th – 29th November) due to mock exams.

Clares Court car park – please remember this is a school playground with a speed limit that must be observed.

Hot suppers – Claire is resuming service this Tuesday (26th November) with her signature dish (Chilli - meat and veggie options, homemade guacamole and tortilla chips, seasonal apple crumble for dessert). Please book with her directly as soon as you can, and enjoy (and test out) the lovely new bar.

Fingers crossed for a reduction in flow, so we can all get out to safely row.

Questions/thoughts/ideas always welcomed.
