Maidenhead Senior Women is a rapidly growing squad of over 18s who train and race competitively. As we race at heads and regattas at both local and national events, we are privileged to be coached by an extremely experienced volunteer who has coached all abilities from beginners to Olympic standard. We row in every boat from 1x to 8+.
Training alongside the Senior Men's squad has created an inclusive and fun atmosphere. Our training is split into two seasons: Autumn/Winter and Spring/Summer.
Autumn/Winter training consists of ergos twice a week, plus twice-weekly weights sessions. The indoor winter training is supplemented at the weekend by morning water sessions on both Saturday and Sunday. The weekend sessions are often double sessions, with breakfast available in the clubhouse. Although we aim to compete in numerous head races during the Winter season, when river conditions are unsuitable, we hold our water sessions at the famous Dorney Rowing Lake nearby.
In the Spring/Summer season our focus shifts to sprint training. Evening water sessions provide a great opportunity to perfect our technique in smaller boats. Most of our racing takes place during the Summer, including local regattas and major national events such as Senior British Championships and Henley Women’s Regatta.
We do understand that everyone has work and life commitments, so members can tailor their own land/water training accordingly. The Senior Women squad is a welcoming and supportive group, and is always keen to gain new members.
