Senior Women

Maidenhead Senior Women welcome members 18+ of all levels.

Maidenhead Senior Women welcomes members 18+ of all levels to join our competitive women's squad that races in Heads and Regattas at local, national and Tideway events. Our training is split into 2 sessions: Autumn/Winter and Spring/Summer. As a squad, we row in every boat from 1x to 8+, sweeping or sculling and are seen on the river in all weather conditions.

Winter training consists of ergos twice a week concentrating on strength and endurance plus a weekly weights session. The indoor winter training is supplemented at the weekend by morning water sessions on both Saturday and Sunday. The weekend sessions are likely to be double sessions, with a longer endurance session first followed by a shorter technical session. Fear not though - you get to have a cup of tea and a quick bite to eat in between sessions! To break up the long Autumn/Winter training, we will compete in numerous head events including local and Tideway races. During Autumn/Winter training we team up with the Masters Women's squad for land training.

The Spring/Summer season sees us leaving behind the long, endurance-based head races and we start focusing more on sprint training with much more time on the water. Many crews will have been training in their Regatta boats all winter to compete against the top-class competition in the summer season.

We do understand that work and life’s commitments sometimes get in the way of rowing, so members can tailor their own land/water training accordingly. Whatever drives you, whether you are a rower/sculler, the Senior Women squad is welcoming and supportive to new members.

The squad has a friendly and supportive culture, where members often turn out to support our crews at events.
